AHMG was founded in December 2005 by Fara Kardan, M.D. with the goal of improving quality and efficiency of inpatient care through providing the highest quality of care in the most efficient manner.
In 2006, AHMG successfully implemented the hospitalist program for “Unassigned Patients” at Mission Hospital and from April 2006 thru March 2008 successfully operated the hospitalist program with outstanding results.
AHMG’s achievements include:
More than 60% improvement in quality indicators (AMI, CHF, PNA)
More than 40% improvement in ALOS
Proper utilization of hospital resources with almost 50% reduction in avoidable bed days (AVBD)
Active involvement in CPOE design and implementation
Significant savings in pharmacy cost and improvement in quality of care with proper use and appropriate dosing of medications.
These achievements resulted in significant improvement in overall quality of patient care and outcome with substantial savings (ROI) through AHMG‘s unique high quality, more efficient and multidisciplinary approach to inpatient care.
AHMG also provides hospitalist services for “Private Referrals” and “Surgical Co-Management“ of patients to help meet the increasing demand by medical staff and local physicians in the community.

Fara Kardan
Faramarz Kardan, M.D., FACP, FHM
President and Medical Director
Dr. Kardan entered Tehran University
Medical School in 1979 when he ranked among the top
1% in the National Medical School Entrance Exam in Iran.
He received his medical degree with academic distinction
in 1988. Dr. Kardan completed his Internal Medicine
residency at Tufts University affiliated Faulkner Hospital
in Boston, MA in 1994.
Following his residency, Dr. Kardan
practiced medicine in an underserved area in Kentucky
where he served as a primary care doctor and also as
a part-time Emergency Department physician for about
3 years.
Dr. Kardan has been a Hospitalist
since 1999. He founded Advanced Hospitalist Medical
Group, Inc. (AHMG) in 2005 and was selected among several
competing groups to provide inpatient care to the unassigned
patients of Mission Hospital.
Dr. Kardan was nominated in April 2008 once again by his peers and nursing staff for “Dignity and Excellence” Award at Mission Hospital and has recently been nominated by his peers for “Physician of Excellence” in Orange County in 2007-2008 thru OCMA (Orange County Medical Association).
In January 2010, Dr. Kardan received his Fellowship (FACP), in American College of Physicians for his career achievements as an internist and ongoing service and contributions to the practice of medicine.
He also received his honorary Fellowship in Hospital Medicine (FHM) through Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) in February 2010, for his career accomplishments as a Hospitalist since 1999.
Dr. Kardan is board certified
in Internal Medicine and is the President & Medical
Director of AHMG.
